2009 offers our movement for justice in rural Oregon historic opportunities to build on the victories of the 2008 election. But it also offers historic challenges. In the midst of a deepening recession, an entrenched war at home and abroad, and intensified scapegoating of immigrants and people of color, it’s time for some hope! And some darn smart strategy. The Rural Organizing Project offers a space for both. Join us:
ROP’s Annual Rural Caucus & Strategy Session

Sunday Rural Caucus: A Day of Strategy and Inspiration including a Mid-Day Rally to Stop the Wars at Home and Abroad
Monday Morning Democracy Bailout Legislative Visits: Bring an Infusion of Democracy to our State Legislators in Salem!
You are the magic and missing ingredient. Register now (see info below)!
In March 2009, ROP members from all corners of the state will converge on the Capitol in Salem for 36 hours to advance our progressive power. We’ll start with a Sunday Rural Caucus to hone our organizing strategies and skills and affirm our platform of specific policy needs. On Monday, we’ll take that platform to our Legislators and Governor, exposing the unacceptable Costs of the Wars at Home and Abroad and demanding a new deal for Rural Oregon’s communities and beyond.
We have worked hard to earn back some progressive, common sense power.
In 2009, we intend to use it.
