Be a part of sustaining ROP organizing today and for years to come with a planned gift.
The term “planned giving” describes charitable giving through creative lifetime gifts, estate gifts, and other ways of giving beyond gifts of cash. There are many planned giving techniques that can help you maximize the personal benefits of your charitable giving while allowing you to make a gift that you might not have thought possible. Gift any amount through your will, trust, life insurance policy, or IRA.
Common ways to give:
DONOR ADVISED FUNDS OR FAMILY FOUNDATIONS: Recommend ROP for a single or recurring grant to make an immediate impact.
BENEFICIARY DESIGNATIONS: Name ROP as the beneficiary of your IRA or retirement plan, individual or group life insurance policy, or a charitable remainder trusts (CRTs).
DONATE APPRECIATED SECURITIES (stock): Donate stock to ROP and get a deduction equal to the fair market value of the stock at the time of the transfer (its increased value), and avoid capital gains tax on the appreciated value of the stock.
IRA QUALIFIED CHARITABLE DISTRIBUTIONS (QCDs): make a gift that is transferred directly from your IRA to ROP with income tax benefits.
MULTI-YEAR GIFTS: Ordinary people can make extraordinary gifts, securing our future and supporting our operations. Whether through a gift or your family foundation, there are many ways to support ROP through multi-year commitments.
BEQUESTS: Gift any amount through your will, trust, life insurance policy, or IRA.
Sample bequest language for an unrestricted gift:
“I give [sum, percentage, or description of property] to Rural Organizing Project, an Oregon non-profit corporation, to be used for its general tax-exempt purposes, but without other restriction as to use.”
