Building Rural Leadership

Rural Organizing Project enthusiastically trains, coaches, resources, and supports rural leaders committed to building human dignity groups and organizing for safe, vibrant, and welcoming rural communities. From the Rural Organizing Fellowship to our Community Organizing Center in Cottage Grove, we are resourcing spaces for rural organizers to gather, exchange skills, and develop strategies to advance democracy and defend human dignity. As a network, we are committed to learning how to make change together with a cohort of passionate and committed rural organizers.

Rural Organizing Fellowship

In 2018, we launched the Rural Organizing Fellowship with a cohort of ten phenomenal leaders from around the state. Over the past 27 years, ROP has been committed to creating opportunities like this for organizers to build their skills and capacity because we know that it will strengthen our rural justice movements for years to come.

Community Organizing Center

In February 2019, ROP became the proud owner of what is now our Community Organizing Center on Main Street in historic downtown Cottage Grove. The Community Organizing Center is a resource for community groups to gather and host events, workshops, classes, and social gatherings that focus on building stronger, healthier, more vibrant rural communities for all. We have been busy with repairs and improvements, and already local groups are using the space to host meetings and workshops to share skills and engage with each other on how to make our communities safe and welcoming for all.
