Living Legacy Memorial
December 3, 2015
Last weekend, this beautiful bench was placed at Marcy Westerling’s grave site. Marcy, our founder, started the Rural Organizing Project in 1992. As most of you know, Marcy died in June of this year, and on August 23rd, we celebrated her life and her legacy with a memorial service in Portland.
For those of you who were not able to be there, and those of you wishing to remember the beauty we shared that day, we have created a web page that includes slide shows, eulogies and videos from that event. We invite you to join us in remembering the ways Marcy moved, mentored and inspired us.
If you wish to remember Marcy by contributing to her Legacy Fund, please go to this link. Visit her memorial page for directions to her grave site.
“Visit often. Make my grave site a place where you problem-solve dilemmas, process new adventures, keen and celebrate the many transitions in your own life. Come alone. Bring others. Young people, scared people, irreverent people. Keep me as present as you can. I truly believe that I will feel and treasure this.”
