Dear ROPnet,
In 2050, how will we remember this year? 2025: the year Trump took office for the second time. Or will it be 2025: the year that rural human dignity leaders started (or ramped up) pivotal campaigns that led to the thriving, just democracy we enjoy in the second half of the 21st century?
We will be convening for our annual Rural Caucus and Strategy Session this spring. Mark your calendars for the 2025 Rural Caucus and Strategy Session, which will be on the weekend of April 25-27th in Baker County! This is the furthest east we have ever held a Caucus and we couldn’t be more excited. 🙂
For 34 years, small-town and rural organizers, activists, and community leaders from across the state have gathered annually to reflect on the last year and to strategize about local and statewide organizing for the years to come at the Rural Caucus and Strategy Session.
The Caucus location changes each year so we can witness firsthand and celebrate powerful organizing in every corner of the state. We are thrilled to be hosted by leaders in Baker County who have been building a community radio station, holding peace vigils, campaigning for the return of passenger rail, and so much more! We couldn’t think of a better place to come together as a statewide movement to defend human dignity and democracy.
While we don’t know exactly what Trump’s first 100 days will hold, we know we will need space to gather in community with the spaciousness to assess what we’re facing, deepen relationships, and fill our cups. We will be creating space to go deep where we need to, and holding unstructured time to connect over food or on the dance floor.
We need your county and your group to be a part of strategizing with us! Talk to your friends, family, and Human Dignity Group members. Decide on a team of 4-6 people to represent your group and your community. Can we count on seeing you there? Email us at sidra@rop.org and let us know!
Stay tuned for more information, including the Caucus webpage and registration form.
Warmly,
Sidra and the ROP Team
P.S. Do you have a bus or a large van? Are you a bus driver? We want to make sure everyone who wants to participate has a ride to get to the Caucus this year and are looking to set up bus routes for this purpose! Email us at sidra@rop.org and let us know!
