Since this morning when the US Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade, rural Oregonians have been turning our anger into action plans. If you are in Central Oregon for the Rural Caucus & Strategy Session or for any other reason, please join us tomorrow night:
Redmond Collective Action is hosting a rally Saturday, June 25th at 6:00 pm outside Redmond City Hall (411 SW 9th St, Redmond, OR 97756) to demand bodily autonomy and health care for everyone.
For a growing list of actions across the state, check out our Facebook and Instagram, and this map from We Won’t Go Back. Are you planning a rally you want us to amplify? Is your group taking action in some other way? Please share what you are doing with us over email or social media, and we will repost it!
We know that many people aren’t able to participate in the streets for many reasons. There are many ways to take action at this moment, from donating to abortion funds and independent clinics, to researching the language in the Supreme Court’s decision to assess the implications this ruling will have on other constitutional rights such as marriage equality and access to contraception, or supporting folks in accessing abortion today and for the long haul. How are we reaching out and supporting one another at this moment both in person and virtually?
Today I’m drawing on the grounded strength of the reproductive justice movement and leaders like Monica Simpson, Executive Director of SisterSong, who shared, “We are exhausted & deeply saddened, but we are also OUTRAGED & ready to organize. Our liberation is on the line & we are not rolling over & allowing a court steeped in white supremacy to strip away our freedom.”

Onward!
